M+: You just reminded me of the gazillion times that PD has “tested” me by appearing out of nowhere, in my alarmed face. I never quite got the hang of expecting it and usually end up emitting a rather loud yelp. One of these times, he’s truly going to have to revive me.
I’ve been taught a couple of “nose moves.”

Ah, yes, the joys of the art of combat. Not-So-Emo-Bob and I also have a thing for moving with great stealth. You’d be amazed at how unsettling it can be to have a 6′2″, 270 lb. man suddenly standing next to you…

Just out of curiosity, did PD teach you the “knuckle under the nose” manuever? Defintely one of my favorite “stop!” moves. Excruciating to the attacker, but you have to be quick with it.

Hey that’s some crazy work hours you got! I don’t see the point of killing yourself a few days a week so you can have a few days off trying to recover…..work should be something you do each day but leaving you with enough time to go back home and enjoy a few hours’ relaxation….anything that makes you a zombie just isn’t right.

BUT one needs to pay the bills,eh? Slavery, that’s what it is….working at terms we can’t live with but unable to survive without the work

I’m sorry that you have to work long hours like that. It sounds like it’s killing your energy and your life.

The number one destroyer for the American people is being overworked and underpaid. I used to be in a similar situation like you, and I got laid off on top of it too.

It was a devastation and I almost lost everything I had. But one day, I decided to study the wealthy. I realized that they don’t work long and hard for their money. So I decided to think outside the box and now I’m making over $40k a month getting paid daily.

Every time I look back at my past I get tears….I didn’t know it was possible to live in abundance and stress-free. (tears)

The picture of Tut-Tut’s baby girl cheered you up, yes? How can you not be cheery when you see those adorable cheeks??

Also, hmmmm, let’s see….in 2 weeks you get a 4 day weekend.

And….hey!! you finally added me to the blogroll!!! Yay!!!!

And…..I have ADD, can you tell? I didn’t know until a couple of years ago when Cinbad gave me a birthday card that had a picture of a woman giving a speech to the ADD support society or something and in the middle she said, hey, nice shoes!! And I said, ummmm, OMG, I have that!! Cinbad (and others) said, you didn’t know? Nope…..but now I see that I do. Ah well, I think it’s the reason I can’t stay in a bad mood for too long. There’s always something shiny…..over ….there…..

Just remember, the rest of us have to use vacation or PTO to get Fridays off. Yours come automatically.
I recommend you use them wisely; take naps…

Uncool, to me, is holding back what is in your innerman in fear of what someone might think. I love who I am today, good with the bad, and I believe that the things that make up my life are just other seasonings to the recipe of my life. Though things are forever changing in my life, I give a small, smerky smile from time to time instead of “wigging out” and take in all that is happening. I wish I could master this and be like that all the time….

I have to tell you… there was one movie when Buie was still in a highchair. It was Mike’s 12th birthday. You were all taking care of Buie, feeding him, cleaning him up; it was so cute. So we’re sitting there and Bu joked that you were a better mother to him. We agreed that he should have sent you a Mother’s Day card.

M+: I think you pulled it off!
My son always gives weird cards. Once on my birthday I got a card that said “Thanks to a Wonderful Dog Sitter” (or something like that…

Actually, the slowest drivers in the universe drive the Mercury Grand Marquis. It isn’t called the “Grand Ma” for no reason. And according to Consumer Reports it has the oldest average age for ownership.

As for toilet paper dynamics, at least it wasn’t European rest stop TP, which is more like wax paper and just about as absorbant.

excellent post my dearest, my nephew “more candor” taught me what cool was when he was only like 12 years old. he explained that it wasn’t what you wear or how much money you have. it’s inside of each individual.

I recently finished a term as a student government officer. In a matter of a few days, my incoming e-mails went from 30-40 to 5 or so. That’s kind of the norm, I guess, and you don’t end up talking to most of your former colleagues nearly as much as you used to when you needed each other for things. There is one guy, though, that I still talk to just about every day… so I guess right now, I see it as when you suddenly find yourself in a friendship that transcends whatever roles you play to the outside world. There was one person who still had use for me even after I ceased to be cool.

Lester Bangs was an icon of cool in the music critic business, but once in awhile would shed his public persona to share a real moment with someone (I forget the kid’s name… it’s been a couple of years since I’ve seen the movie). Kind of inspiring as I now find myself between roles and suddenly… uncool.
