The band got their name from the 1985 novel White Noise by Don DeLillo. On my list of books to read.

Frontman, Mikel Jollet (34) is a novelist (short story “The Crack” featured in the June ‘08 issue of McSweeney’s.) Worked as critic for NPR as well as the LA Times. He’s been quoted as saying, “I wanna sing, I wanna jump around. We’re all gonna die… so let’s get drunk and dance. Life’s sad, it’s beautiful, it sucks, it’s awe-inspiring, all at the same time, and we just try to reflect that or capture that in our music…”

Going to be working on this page devoted to my new favorite band.

“Wishing Well,” the first song ever performed by the band in their live debut at the Echo nearly two years ago.

Very cool video of the band playing Gasoline Live and in your face in the VH1 studio and featured on Best Week Ever on September 26, 2008.
